This was a recent commissioned piece I created for a client as a gift for her mother-in-law. For her family their faith is very important and that was an element she wanted emphasized in the piece. She also provided one of her mother-in-law’s favorite bible verses. For this work, I wanted to create a warm loving atmosphere. I also included elements that I associated with the family, and hopefully the recipient would as well. For example, my client’s daughter loves butterflies, so I assumed they would remind her of her granddaughter. Currently, the family lives on Terceira and the shells represent that island association with their current location. Anyway, I am pleased with this work, and my client seemed happy as well.
