The guest room in our rental house.Guest room from the opposite angle, by the window.
We chose this room to be the guest room. Logistically, it is spacious enough, however, for two adults over six feet tall, the sharply sloping ceiling makes this room inconvenient for any use on a regular basis. If you get to stay in our home for free, you can deal with the stupid ceiling–sorry.
What bothered me most about this room, wasn’t the ceiling’s angle; that was part of the house already in existence that I had no control over. What I did have control over though (thanks to my nice landlords) was the awful color of the ceiling. I like brown. I do-just not for the ceiling. The overhead lighting is adjacent to the window, and thus, most of the light doesn’t dissipate ideally throughout the space. Of course, the dark color not only absorbed the light, but also gave the room a daunting-cave-like-atmosphere–and really, what is more inviting than dark-cave-room?
I used the remaining paint from the bathroom to repaint the ceiling. It was simple, but the difference was certainly noticeable.
